Andrew Garfield shares why watching the Harry Potter movies is a “controversy”

Andrew Garfield has labeled author JK Rowling as “one who shall remain nameless” as he revealed he recently watched the Harry Potter films for the first time.

In addition to the statement about Rowling (referring to the antagonist of the series Lord Voldemort who is often called “who shall not be named”), the 42-year-old actress born in Los Angeles was full of praise for the franchise, noting that the leading actor Daniel Radcliffe is “good” in the movies.

Garfield said Hit the Radio: “I hadn’t watched Harry Potters until recently… and o [Daniel Radcliffe] it’s so good in those Harry Potter movies. Those Harry Potter movies are great. “

He added: “I know there’s controversy. And like, we shouldn’t be, you know, putting money in the bag of inhuman laws now about him who will remain nameless.

“I’m working with a great make-up artist, Claire, who now works at the creature studio. I feel like, oh man, we can’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. There are a lot of great artists who worked on those movies. I have a new appreciation for all the artists though.”

Independent has contacted Rowling’s representative for comment.

Last year, Rowling supported the campaign group For Women Scotland (FWS) as they brought a series of legal challenges to the legal definition of “woman”.

The UK Supreme Court handed down a judgment last April which found that the words “woman” and “sex” in the Equality Act refer to a natural woman and a natural sex.

This decision meant that transgender women could no longer sit on public boards in places reserved for women. It also has potential implications for the way people use single-sex spaces such as toilets, shelters and hospital wards.

Rowling has previously appeared to like the leading stars of the Harry Potter films, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, for their support of transgender rights.

When Rowling was asked last year: “Which actor/actress instantly ruins a movie for you?” he replied: “Three ideas. Sorry, but that couldn’t be denied.”

Rowling’s views on gender have divided the entertainment industry. David Tennant spoke out against his views, while The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal called Rowling a “bad loser” after the Supreme Court’s decision, after she shared a photo from her yacht, smoking a cigarette, alongside the caption, “I love it when the plan comes together.”
