Eric Roberts – Julia Roberts’ older brother – has spoken out in praise of his former Suits co-star Meghan, and suggested she “needs” to get back into acting.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may have fallen on troubled times, but those close to the steadfast duchess say she has a Plan B.
The members of the first royal family left the monarchy in 2020 to create a new life in the United States with private funds. They splurged on a £10.5million mansion in the exclusive Los Angeles area of Montecito and secured a lucrative £77million deal with Netflix and a £15.5million deal with Spotify.
But six years on, it seems their luck has run out. The couple were about to be brutally fired from Bible Variety, suggesting that Netflix was “officially done” with the Sussexes and that the giant had become “tired” of Harry and Meghan’s way of selling repeated versions of the same story about their exit from royal life.
According to the report, A-list talent and executives were reluctant to work with the pair as the pair’s attitude was changing in the industry, further fueled by Spotify’s head of podcast innovation and money, Bill Simmons, calling them “f***ing grifters”. United Talent Agency CEO Jeremy Zimmer also took a stab at the 2023 meeting, blasting: “It turns out Meghan Markle wasn’t a good vocal talent, or really any kind of talent. Just because you’re famous doesn’t make you good at something.”

The series of her life, With Love … Meghan was abandoned by Netflix after two series, while her profit in As Ever many types of flowers and fruit spread is yet to be revealed. According to multiple sources, sales have been a major problem, with Variety reporting that the brand has around $10 million (£7.5 million) of unsold inventory. Rubbing more salt into the wounds, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos has now unfollowed Meghan and As Ever’s Instagram accounts.
And their upcoming trip to Australia – where Meghan plans to sell pictures of herself and fans – is already under fire. Royal author Tom Bower – who has written a new book on the Sussexes called Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family – called their trip “difficult” and a “money grab”.

During their visit, the couple will make a solo engagement, and Meghan will be the guest of honor at a “girls’ week” holiday party in Sydney. The Duchess will speak during the “one-of-a-kind” week, including a sumptuous dinner, and VIP ticket holders can have their photo taken with the Duchess.
Spectators have been surprised by the prices to attend the event, with tickets starting at an eye-watering £1,439. This price includes accommodation for attendees at a Sydney beachside hotel and access to three days of events, including dinner, yoga and meditation, and a disco party.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry will speak at the InterEdge Conference in Melbourne, described as “a professional development conference designed to equip leaders, practitioners and change-makers with the knowledge and tools to create workplaces that are mentally healthy, safe and efficient.” Tickets for the mental health conference start from £1,054, with proceeds from ticket sales going to Lifeline. Harry and Meghan’s next trip has not been confirmed, but their spokesman said they will “take part in a number of private, business and philanthropic activities”.
But while the current situation may look bleak, those close to Meghan – who has transformed herself several times from Suits actress to philanthropist and founder – say she still has plenty of options.

Last year, Meghan reportedly shot a cameo – as herself – in the upcoming film Close Personal Friends with Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid and Henry Golding.
While some may see a return to climbing, social media expert Mayah Riaz believes it could work in Meghan’s favor – though it may not be good news for her husband.
He says: “It is a very smart move that can change his record overnight. “Returning to this world gives him something that he has been missing in recent years, which is a clear professional identity that is separate from the royal story. It is a stable and more stable condition.
“That said, this is a stable moment. On the one hand, it’s a smart pivot to return to something familiar and proven. On the other hand, there’s a risk that looks like a step back after putting yourself in a position to move beyond Hollywood.
“If Meghan goes into her own successful career, there is a risk that Harry can be reduced in the background. We have already seen that defining his role outside the royal framework has been very difficult, so this could widen that gap in the public’s view.”
Speaking, he explains that Eric’s choice of speech suggests that the wheels are already in high gear. He adds: “When industry numbers start talking, it’s rarely by accident.” “It often implies that the negotiations are already happening behind the scenes.
“There is also a strong business model. A well-made comeback can be very profitable. Streaming platforms love a story of redemption or recovery, and Meghan already has the world recognition that many actors spend decades trying to achieve. The source said about his separation from Netflix: “He could not do anything, decide or move forward without running everything through them and waiting forever for the results of the meetings. A spokesman for Sussex said in response: “This is speculation. No decisions have been made about when or where international expansion might happen.
