BTS’ “Swim” debuts best, at No. 1, on the Billboard Hot 100. The song becomes the South Korean pop group’s seventh career number one and first since 2021; the following year, the septet announced a hiatus.
“Swim” comes from ARRIANGBTS’ first studio album of new material from 2020. The group explodes to the top of the Billboard 200 album chart, where it is also the group’s seventh number.
BTS continues to boast the Hot 100 No. 1s among groups since it began to lead, with “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)” with Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo, in October 2020. In fact, BTS has the largest number of 1s among groups in almost half a century – since the Bee Gees have the Bee Gees chart-71-7 out of nine. As for the biggest number 1 among groups since the chart began in August 1958, the Beatles lead all acts with 20, followed by the group Supremes (12), Bee Gees, Rolling Stones (eight) and BTS.

‘Swim’ Streams, Airplay & Sales
“Swim,” on BigHit Music/Geffen/Interscope Capitol, arrives as the Hot 100’s 1,190th No. 1 all-time, and 89th to start in the conference (making it 7% of all leaders to achieve it).
It was released on March 20 ARRIANG“Swim” drew 15.3 million official streams and 25.8 million radio audience impressions and sold 154,000 (digital and physical singles combined) in the United States in the week ending March 26. Its physical sales total shows two CDs, one of which includes an instrumental version, while its digital version is available, with options seven of March, with seven types of originals. until the end of the week to catch up with some cover art – one for each member of BTS. (The instrumental version, released on March 23, is also available for streaming.)
BTS promoted their new music with a Netflix special BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARRIANG March 21 and appear on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon March 25, when it played “Swim” and March 26.
“Swim” debuts at No. 2 on Flow Songs, the best position of BTS’s career on the chart; No. 18 on Radio Songs, the act’s highest entry; and no. 1 in Digital Song Sales, where it is BTS’s 13th leader, the most among groups.

“Swim” is BTS’ sixth song to debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100 (all except the top “Savage Love”), the most of the group.
As solo artists, BTS members Jimin (“Like Crazy,” April 2023) and Jung Kook (“Seven,” featuring Latto; one week, July 2023) each scored a Hot 100 No. 1 single. 1.
“Swim” is also BTS’ 11th Hot 100 top 10 and first since “Bad Decisions” with Benny Blanco and Snoop Dogg (No. 10 peak, August 2022). (Jung Kook got three top 10s and Jimin, one.)

A little deeper (but not too deep for fear of the lifeguard’s whistle), “Swim” is Hot 100 No. 1 first with that word in the title track. Original height, eh, watermark? No. 5, for Bobby Freeman’s “C’mon and Swim” in August 1964. Shoutout, too, to Teddy Swims, whose “Lose Control” led the week in March 2024.

Another Top 10: ‘Choose’ Texas’ & More
Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” drops to No. 2 on the Hot 100 after four weeks at No. 1 since mid-February – the most for a female song that also hit No. Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart; leads to the final list for the 18th week. It also posted a fifth week at the top of Stream Songs (23.7 million, up 9%).
Olivia Dean’s first two Hot 10 hits are still in the same spot where “The Man I Need” drops to No. 3 from No.
Bruno Mars’ “I’ve Got the Power” drops 3-4 after three weeks on the Hot 100 in January through mid-March. It tops Radio Songs for a fifth week, with 80.9 million listeners (down 1%). It topped the multimetric Hot R&B/Hip-Hop and Hot R&B Songs charts for 11 weeks each; further, it surpasses “What I Love” (2017) for Mars’ longest reign among his five leads.
Alex Warren’s “Normal” falls 4-5 on the Hot 100 after 10 weeks at No. 1 last in June-August. It enters its 43rd week in the top five, tying The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” (2020-21) for the second-longest run, behind Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” (47 Weeks, 2024-25).
HUNTR/X’s “Golden” falls back 5-6 on the Hot 100 after eight weeks at No. 1 last August-October. Notably, only two groups that topped the Hot 100 in the last four years – BTS and HUNTR/X – are associated with K-pop. (Before their leader, Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” reigned in 2022.)
The Pink Panthers’ “Stateside,” featuring Zara Larsson, drops to No. 8 from it no. 6 on the Hot 100, while adding a sixth week at No. 1 on Hot Dance / Pop Songs.
Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” drops 8-9 on the Hot 100, after it began its 10-week run at the top of the chart when it debuted in October and led through January.
Entering the Hot 100’s top 10, Kehlani’s “Folded” rises 13-10 after reaching No. 6.
