Current and former En Vogue members trade barbs as the group reunites for a tour

John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy’s “Love Story” isn’t the only thing with a 90’s revival. The girl group’s musical chairs are taking over and not playing games.

En Vogue is gearing up to tour with Salt-n-Pepa and TLC for their “It’s Iconic” tour, and is bringing out old and new dirt.

En Vogue original members Cindy Herron, Terry Ellis and Maxine Jones, who recently joined the group, performed in November at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, leaving behind longtime member Rhona Bennett, who left the group.

To add insult to injury, we hear the team never reached out to Bennett before or after the high-profile diss.

Despite being part of the group for more than two decades, a source familiar with the situation described the women’s relationship with Bennett as more than sisterly business. “They were friendly, but it was really for them to come to work, then go home, or to different places,” said the source.

We are told that in the following years, they consulted each other.

Sources paint a picture of En Vogue as Ellis and Herron against anyone they let in.

Former En Vogue member Dawn Robinson has now joined the fray, coming to Bennett’s defense, saying she can relate to being rejected by the group.

“They’re the champions and they say who can stay and who can’t stay,” Robinson said in a video posted to his YouTube channel on Monday.

He said: “They throw people like sticks….En Vogue can’t keep their members to save their lives.

Bennet has also been on the defensive.

The current cast members sat down with People magazine recently, and Ellis said it was Bennet’s choice to step down, saying, “He could be there. He chose not to be.”

Ellis also said they learned about his departure from the group from social media. “The next thing we know, we hear on social media that he’s gone, he’s gone,” Ellis said.

Bennett took to his keyboard to talk about the “flaws” about how he left the club, suggesting that their lawyers had abandoned contract negotiations.

“This statement is misleading and does not represent what actually happened,” he said on social media. My attorney received official notice from their attorney that the contract they were offering was canceled on November 11th.

Bennet also said that he was not informed in advance about the RHOF process. “The suggestion that I refused to participate because of prior commitments is not correct,” he said.

“My departure was not the result of a disagreement over some process,” Bennett continued to explain. He wrote: “For several months, our legal teams negotiated contracts. In the end, the terms offered did not match my values or the level of mutual respect in the relationship.

Meanwhile, Robinson called Jones back to the team last November.

“Obviously he likes abuse,” Robinson said in his video.

Robinson recalled when the group sued Jones for unauthorized use of the En Vogue name in 2012, saying, “I remember years ago when Maxine was sued by Cindy and Terry. She said she would never work with those skanks again. Those were her words, so now it’s amazing to see how she’s back again, working with those skanks,” she said.

Our insider told us that they want nothing more than for women to come together and have a moment of community healing, but something tells us that they won’t get it.

As for Robinson, “I will never go back to this,” he said.

His message to Bennett was to not let “the evil, insidious, inexplicable behavior of the group rob you of the love and trust you have in people.”

A representative for En Vogue and Bennett did not get back to us.
