Good work Summer House has its own little Scandoval.
On Tuesday, co-stars Amanda Batula and West Wilson released a joint statement confirming their new relationship after weeks of rumors that their relationship had turned romantic. Batula recently announced that she has separated from her husband Kyle Cooke; Wilson once dated Ciara Miller, one of Batula’s close friends.
“We have seen increasing speculation on the internet, so although this is still very new, we wanted to give some explanation. It was not our intention to hide anything on purpose. Due to the complex relationships involved and the scrutiny that comes from being in a reality show, we needed a little space to deal with things privately before talking about it,” a statement written separately from Batula and Wilson began on Instagram Stories.
“We have shown each other as friends over the years, through highs and lows, and what has developed recently was the last thing either of us expected. Our relationship grew out of a true, long-term friendship, which made it very important that we approach this carefully,” their statement continued. “When our feelings changed, we wanted to take the time to really understand how we felt. We also realize that this had an impact on more than just us and we never wanted our actions to hurt or be seen as careless.
As an estimate of love between Summer House stars captured the air in the Bravosphere, most of the stars of Batula and Wilson refuted claims that they were romantically together. During the appearance of March 10 in Watch What Happens LiveCooke, Batula’s husband, said he thought the rumors were “outrageous.”
He said: “It’s scary that it’s going to continue as long as it’s going on in the news, but no, I don’t think it’s going to do any good. When asked by host Andy Cohen if he would be upset if he found out the couple were dating, Cooke said, “It would definitely shock me and I’d feel indifferent.”
He adds: “And I think he’s probably the last person people would worry about.” I think Ciara would probably have something to say. But if it makes Amanda happy, I guess I’ll have to vote ‘yay.’
Wilson himself responded in his opinion of March 24 WWHL stint. He said they were just friends.
He said: “He’s single now, and I have to show him the streets a little bit. If it’s not clear, he’s a very important person to me, and I care a lot about him.
Batula himself has also said that he will not date anyone of his own Summer House teammates during his breakup with Cooke. “I don’t touch any of my members,” he said, similarly, continuing WWHL on February 3. “Yeah, no, they love them too much, but I’m good.”
Wilson joined Bravo’s team Summer House in season eight, which began airing in 2024. During that time, Wilson met the cast and began dating Miller, with whom she dated until the end of the year. During the eighth episode of the reality series, the two announced that they were no longer together, and Miller revealed that Wilson said he would not commit to a serious relationship with her “for related reasons.”
At the meeting, Batula, along with many of the actors, beat Wilson to support Traitors third-year star, calling his tendency to “call each other [women] for a long time without putting a title on it.”
“And there was a part of me that was hoping that this time it would change,” Batula said during Wilson’s relationship with Miller, continuing, “but it seems like it’s just an example for you. You have a really hard time doing that.”
Wilson and Miller were in a tight spot throughout the ninth inning Summer House. Season 10 started in February and continues, with the two of them growing closer and reliving aspects of their first love. (In episode seven, Miller admitted that “we both obviously miss each other,” and noted that “we’re in a weird state of like, limbo, so it all comes out disorganized and a little bit crazy.”)
Hollywood Reporter has reached out to Miller’s representatives for comment. (Eagle-eyed followers noticed that he didn’t follow Batula and Wilson after posting their joint statement.)
Elsewhere, Batula and Cooke announced their split in January. The couple, who have been married for four years, have been on the Bravo series throughout most of its run; Cooke has been a full-time member since season one, where the two appeared when their relationship began. Batula joined the cast full-time in season two, and later joined the show in September 2018.
In conversation with Marie ClaireBatula sang Miller’s praises during filming for season 10 of Summer House in the midst of turmoil in his marriage. However, he yelled at Wilson again.
Batula said: “It would have been a very difficult summer to live without Ciara. She is one of the kindest, most loving and loyal friends I’ve ever had. “It also means a lot to me how supportive West is. [Wilson] has been throughout the year, sometimes in ways I didn’t even know when filming. It doesn’t work; it’s just true to what the West is. He checks Kyle and puts him in his place, and you’re going to see him be there for me all season long.”
