The crew calls the creature ‘Calvin,’ and the film becomes a sci-fi cat-and-mouse battle against a rapidly evolving enemy. Life it’s a difficult film because we learn what Calvin can do as the crew does. The all-star cast includes Ryan Reynolds in a completely different role than we’re used to seeing him play.

Going down it’s a monster horror movie where the scene is almost as scary as what lurks in the dark. Juno (Natalie Mendoza) leads a group of her friends on a cave tour. They get stuck and soon realize that they are not the only creatures that roam the black caves.

Cave diving is a scary prospect for most people, and the fact that you’re stuck without help along the way is even worse. The chemistry team is believable, and you sympathize with them as their fortunes go from bad to worse.

Creepers enter caves; horrible beasts that hunt by smell and sound, for there is no light beneath the earth. It is an ever-present threat as well as increasing conflict in the group. Going down it’s really scary. It’s claustrophobic, gritty, and the story has a lot of big twists.

Slither proves that you don’t need a big, scary creature to make an awesome monster movie. Sometimes, less is more, and Slither centers on an alien virus that wreaks havoc on its hapless hosts.

Nathan Fillion stars as Bill Pardy, the town’s sheriff. A meteor crashes nearby, and parasites begin infecting the population. The film relies heavily on body horror, with shocking changes as the trauma escalates.

The film does a good job of introducing the audience to a group of unlikable riders who belittle Joe at every opportunity. He reluctantly agrees to let them off the train before the wolf chases them inside.

Howl it tells a story of long survival, and the creatures are truly terrifying. The situation is strikingly similar, and the film raises moral dilemmas, such as how to deal with an infected loved one.

The film follows a group of students who investigate what they believe are unexplained murders. They meet with a hunter, Hans (Otto Jespersen), for answers, and are surprised that he believes trolls exist and are responsible.

Many found movies and mockumentaries avoid revealing the creature directly. Troll Hunter do the opposite. We see giant trolls of all shapes and sizes as Hans helps the students take pictures.

This film explains how these creatures stay hidden, and although the fear is more intense than a typical horror film, trolls are dangerous and scary.

A quiet gas station in the middle of the night from Splinter

The ruins are part of a biological organism, and we learn what they can do as the survivors discover what they are up against. It’s not easy, Seth is a biology student, and the group must learn to survive the bugs before it’s too late.

There are many obvious signs, and bugs can also develop hidden appendages for more serious threats. Splinter it’s surprisingly clever at times, so it’s an easy recommendation for horror fans, even if it didn’t generate much buzz upon release.
