Alex Cooper rose to fame as the host of the popular “Call Her Daddy” podcast. Now her company is gearing up to launch its first competition series – featuring a cast of 16 “polarizing” reality stars and the digital influencers joining them.
Cooper’s Unwell Network has announced “Unwell Winter Games,” which will premiere next week on YouTube. The four-part series brings together 16 contestants in a “luxury chalet in Park City, Utah” to compete in a series of “mental and physical challenges over four days,” according to the company.
Competitors include Dakota Mortensen of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” who has been in the headlines recently for allegations of domestic violence against Taylor’s ex-girlfriend Frankie Paul. (ABC suspended Season 22 of “The Bachelorette” with Paul, after a 2023 video surfaced showing him attacking Mortensen.) Another cast member is Demi Engemann, a “MomTok” co-star who was also on “Secret Lives of Mormon Women” but left the series before Season 5 after several conflicts involving “MarnetteVal” Marnette.
Other members include “Love Island USA” breakout Huda Mustafa; Anna Delvey (pseudonym of Russian-born fraudster Anna Sorokin, who served nearly four years in prison for fraud); and WWE superstar Saraya Bevis.
The “Unwell Winter Games” player is divided into two teams – one purple and one blue – and one team wins the prize of the last team. Additionally, contestants will compete for cash prizes throughout the challenges that make up the competition. The series, which aired last winter, was approved for film incentive funding by the Utah Board of Tourism Development.
“The show promises intense competition, unlikely alliances and the kind of unfiltered drama that has defined Unwell throughout its slate,” Cooper’s company said in announcing the show.
“Unwell Winter Games” will debut on Unwell’s YouTube channel on Monday, April 6, with subsequent episodes appearing daily (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). The series is hosted by Adam W. (YouTube comedian Adam Waheed), with commentary by Graydon Cutler and Grace O’Malley.
The announcement marks the “intentional expansion of Unwell’s business into fully automated premium content delivered directly to audiences,” the company said. At the same time, Unwell and Cooper will continue to develop shows with original distribution partners, including “Love Overboard,” which is streaming on Hulu, and “Let’s Marry Harry” coming to Netflix.
“Unwell Winter Games” is a director produced by Cooper and her husband, Matt Kaplan, who founded the parent company of Unwell Network, Trending, in 2024.
