James Cameron may be returning to Pandora soon for Avatar 4.
Coming two years after the comment Avatar: The Path of Water finally, Avatar: Fire and Ashes hit theaters in December, continuing the story of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and his family. Although it has been announced that the fourth and fifth films will be released in 2029 and 2031, respectively, Cameron was still open about the continuation of the saga not being a sure thing.
Now, in the interview with ScreenRant‘s Tatiana Hullender for Avatar: Fire and Ashesrelease on March 31, the franchise’s executive producer, Rae Sanchini, reveals that production begins on Avatar 4 it may not be too far away. Sanchini stresses that the work will have to continue on the fourth and fifth film “very soon” due to the sheer amount of effort required.
Sanchini’s Avatar 4 The update, which comes ahead of the film’s 4K UHD and Blu-ray release on May 19, follows the question of whether Cameron could begin her long-awaited pregnancy. An Amazing Journey adaptation this year. Check out his comments in full below:
It may be so. [Fantastic Voyage has] it’s been a long time in the works and we’re making progress and we can’t announce anything, but we’re in the works ahead. That has been our dream project for some time. Then the Avatar movies are a very long lead-up, so we’ll have to start on them soon. And now Jim has a few other things that he keeps kicking. Of course. Many first impressions.
Sanchini’s comments come after a promising presentation from Cameron at the Saturn Awards earlier in March. “To be clear, we haven’t even decided to move forward,” Cameron said. But if I have to do that – which I will say is possible, but not 100% – we will certainly learn from the lessons of the three films.“
It should also be noted that Disney recently shared an updated release calendar, too Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 both are scheduled for 2029 and 2031, respectively. Avatar Films have historically had a long lead time, and and and and and andand
Avatar: Fire and Ashes may not have replicated the success of Waterwaybut it was still a broad success for Disney, making it not surprising that the company wants to finish the saga. The third quarter grossed $1.485 billion worldwide, including $404 million domestically and $1.081 billion from overseas.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the third film underwhelmed critics and currently sits at a lukewarm 66%. Avatar: Fire and Ashes reviews praised the film’s stunning visuals and unique action sequences, but the film faced some criticism for feeling too similar to Waterway.
However, with the audience, the third game of the Sully family has a very strong 90%. These details follow Waterway‘s 92% audience rating and 76% critics’.
There are still many questions about the story for Avatar 4but a large part of the first act of the film has already been shot, and it is expected to produce a lot of exciting moments. While Cameron himself hasn’t come out and confirmed that he’s back on Pandora, Sanchini’s comments suggest that it might just be a matter of time.
