‘Drama’: What Critics Are Saying About Zendaya and Robert Pattinson’s A24 Drama

First impressions are out DramaA24’s romantic drama starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson.

Directed by Norwegian writer Kristoffer Borgli (Dream Scenario), the film also stars Mamoudou Athie and Alana Haim. The project is said to follow a happily engaged young couple whose relationship is put to the test when an unexpected turn of events sends their wedding weekend off the rails.

Initial reviews are mixed; however, there seems to be consensus among critics about the quality of Zendaya and Pattinson’s lead performances.

In his review, Pete Hammond’s Deadline explained Drama as a “funny, but deeply honest film” that “may not be what you expect at all, but it bound sparks a good conversation when you go out.”

Hammond also praised Pattinson’s efforts in the film, describing his performance as “the best performance of his career.”

Canada’s CBC described the film as “imperfect, controversial and fascinating.”

The publication said there is “an endless conversation waiting to be discussed” about the much-talked-about change in the film’s plot, but warned it could also divide audiences.

“Patinson and Zendaya’s raunchy, finger-pointing comedy is more likely to distract audiences than enrage them,” reads the review.

The Australian newspaper was shocked Drama, describing the feature as “disgusting mess, with one star” in a very critical review. But there was high praise from the UK’s Guardian newspaper, which argued that the film “delivers on its promise” with success.

“Drama he has the energetic, witty, tasteless style of his previous film Dream Scenario, both of which are superior to his darkly narcissistic comedy Sick of Myself,” the newspaper wrote.

It gives us the challenge, the angst, the depression that is more intelligently expressed than in many other films that are more serious.

Mashable described the show as a “wonderful comedy” while US Today praised the lead actors, describing Zendaya and Pattinson as “powerhouses” on screen.

“Zendaya is the quieter of the two, juggling the weighty feelings of a wedding and her rapidly crumbling world,” the newspaper wrote. Meanwhile, Pattinson is like a “manic roller coaster” on the screen, which continues to go down the rails when Emma’s weight is revealed, Charlie questions everything and reacts badly to the situation.

With a four star review, Empire Magazine said Drama it “excites in the brutal and intense way that Borgli has proven to be a master.”

“It sticks to the same arch cringe humor he explored in his second hilarious feature Sick of Mean equally bad drama about a woman who is so jealous of her husband’s success that she loudly and obsessively pretends to have a serious illness,” the magazine wrote.

The Independent predicted boldly and eloquently Drama as “the most uncomfortable movie of the year.”

Drama it asks questions that I don’t know if I have the answers to. And that makes me feel uncomfortable.” “It makes me feel exposed and challenged. It also makes me want to talk about it with everyone I meet. And if that’s not an art project, then what is? ”

Drama hits theaters on April 3.
