Spider-Man is set to have a big year in 2026 with more big projects coming up. Between movies, series, and cartoons, there will be many ways to enjoy yourself. Spider-Man franchise is more than just a comedy.
However, what is interesting is that all three major Spider-Man projects that will be released this year will all have one amazing thing in common: Tombstone, one of the most obscure Spider-Man characters in the Universe. Here’s our full scoop on Tombstone Spider-Man’s upcoming appearance in 2026.
Spider-Man: A Brand New Day Is Set To Give Tombstone His MCU Debut
Released on July 31, Spider-Man: The New Day aims to be a more grounded story compared to the many riots we saw in 2021’s S.pider-Man: No Way and elsewhere in the MCU within the ongoing Multiverse Saga.
In the first trailer for Spider-Man: The New Daywe see Tom Holland’s Peter Parker struggling with the consequences of the world no longer remembering who he is due to Doctor Strange’s spell (including Ned and MJ).
As he transitions into Spider-Man, we’ll see the MCU’s Webslinger take on a host of villains, including the return of Mac Gargan’s Scorpion. Spider-Man Homecomingalong with the evil ninja cult known as The Hand (first seen in Netflix’s Marvel era shows as Daredevil, Iron Fist, and The Defender).
However, we will also see new villains in the MCU such as Boomerang and Tarantula, both of whom were in the new MCU game. That said, one confirmed villain who wasn’t introduced in the first trailer for Spider-Man: The New Day he was Tombstone, a New York City crime boss with incredible, long-lasting strength and blue skin (the effects of the chemicals that gave him his powers).
However, we do know that Tombstone will be played by Marvin Jones III, who also voiced Tombstone in the 2018 animated film. Spider-Man: Entering the Spider-Verse. For a street-level Spider-Man movie, Tombstone is a good choice, especially with Marvel Studios unable to use Wilson Fisk’s Kingpin on the big screen due to ongoing copyright issues.
With that in mind, it will be interesting to know what role Tombstone will play in the next MCU movie. It’s not hard to imagine a situation where he might be selling some of these villains that appear in Brand New Dayhe may even want to create a huge criminal empire in New York, surpassing Fisk’s now that the Kingpin is the mayor of the city (as seen in Daredevil: Reborn).
Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Noir will feature a 1930s version of Tombstone
On the television side of things, Amazon and MGM’s The Black Spider The series will give us a completely different side of Spider-Man mythology and an interesting reality outside the MCU. Starring Nicolas Cage, the series is set in a stylized black and white setting of 1930s New York, with crime and corruption but also vigilant detectives and superpowers.
Like Spider-Man: The New Daycoming The Black Spider The series aims to feature many of the famous characters from the comics, although the versions are based more in line with the general aesthetic of the 1930s.
Of course, this includes Tombstone, who also didn’t appear in the first trailer. The Black Spider but it is proven to be produced in the same way. Instead, Tombstone was revealed for the first time with official badge art for the upcoming CCXP event in Mexico.
To see how The Black Spider will deal mainly with organized crime in New York and the mystery surrounding one of the city’s biggest mob bosses, Tombstone fits right in, perhaps acting as Silvermane’s accuser nearby. Spider-Noir’s the Sandman version and other new takes on old comicbook foes. Also, maybe Spider-Noir’s Tombstone could be a minor enemy that wants to capture Silvermane’s power.
Even if it’s the same shape, it’s possible that Spider-Noir’s the version of Tombstone will be very different from the possible MCU image Spider-Man: The New Day.
Still, it’s crazy that a character who doesn’t see much space outside of comics is getting two major appearances in one year (and we’re not even talking about Tombstone’s third and final appearance in 2026).
Marvel Studios’ Animated Your Neighborhood Friendly Spider-Man Season 2 Will Continue With Tombstone Origins
In the first season of Your Spider-Man NeighborLonnie Lincoln (Tombstone’s real name) was introduced as the main character supporting this near reality in the MCU. Attending the same school as Peter Parker, Lonnie is portrayed as a brilliant student and star athlete trying to support his family.
However, Lonnie’s attempt to lure his brother out of the 110th St. The gang gets him caught up in their activities instead. Eventually, Lonnie is drawn into the 110 gang’s ongoing war with Mac Gargan’s Scorpions, eventually becoming their super-powered leader after meeting Diox-3. This is the same chemical that gave Lonnie his powers in the original Marvel Comics.
Even when Lonnie joined Spider-Man to take down Gargan, the first season of Your Spider-Man Neighbor ended with the joke that Lonnie would continue to lead the 110 as Tombstone and drop out of school altogether (while joining Harry Osborn’s new WEB project). Perhaps, the idea is that Lonnie will be trying to separate the different parts of his life.
Also, the details of Lonnie’s fingers were shown as blue in the last episode, apparently teasing a bigger change in the. Your Spider-Man Neighbor season 2, will be the first this year as well.
Your Friendly Spider-Man’s Place Tombstone has definitely been given unique and unexpected dimensions, something that will undoubtedly continue in the future. He should never be considered a villain (at least not yet), which is what makes him so interesting in Marvel’s animated series.
