During the conversation, Kiske weighed in on artists using AI tools to generate lyrics, songs and lyrics.

Speaking about this issue, Kiske shared:

It will never be original, because it just uses the existing material and produces something from it. It will probably be very perfect, but it will never have a soul. And I think it’s a great test that we’re going through – a great holy test. Are you looking for false perfection or a soulful personality? And you know which side you’re talking to. Some people are just plain ignorant; they don’t give, as long as it’s easy to find a song. Even if they like the song and you tell them that the group is not there, it doesn’t bother them, and some don’t want to have anything to do with it.

For me, music in general, or art in general, is a personal expression. You express something important to you with a feeling, and that gives you a soul, and the computer doesn’t have that. It can only manipulate it – it can absorb and manipulate it…

We have bands that we like, especially when you’re from rock music or whatever, you know the bands that you like and you know that they’re real and they’re doing their thing. And I think these feelings about music will never go away for a certain type of person.

To me, AI music is a bit like the synth productions of the ’80s, where it wasn’t about feeling or expressing something in a song; it was just trying to make a hit song to make money. So, to me, it’s the same kind of thing, just [with] more perfection, and you will have the same kind of division in people. I mean, AI is useful for other things. AI is great when you’re making science fiction movies, for example, where you manipulate the world… But wherever AI replaces your creativity, that’s where it’s the devil. And think about it: it has an effect.

I know how exciting technology is. I’m excited about technology. When I had my first AI app, for about three weeks, I was fooling around with it and it was great. Then I lost interest completely. And then I didn’t look at it anymore, “he explained. “I understand it, but if people, in general, anyone who gives up being productive and creative, while you transfer that to machines and computers, you will lose it. You will be ruined, mentally and spiritually. Because when we succeed, that means releasing energy… It’s addictive. It’s very attractive. Technology is fun, but you have to be in control. It is important not to let it control you and your life. It is not easy for many to realize that.

I am very happy that I grew up in a time when there was no Internet, there were no mobile phones. When I was little, we had these early Atari games. It was very easy. They were already addictive, but nothing compared to what it is now. So I’m not jealous [the kids today]because it needs a lot of control and it will become stronger so that it is not put into it and is really damaged by it.
