MONOLORD Announces New Record, Announces New Single and Announces More US Tour Dates – Metal Injection

Three people of Swedish destruction Monolord are returning with a new full-length album titled Neverset for release on May 29, 2026 via Relapse Records – marking their first studio album in five years.

The band recorded the album in Ashland, OR with a well-known producer/engineer Sylvia Masseywho is known for his work with acts like The device, System of a Downeven Johnny Cash.

According to the vocalist/guitarist Thomas Jaegerthe recording process was unusually thorough and extensive. Massy reportedly asked for everything the band had ever created – including old, unused material: “He asked me to send him everything we had – not just the songs written for the album, but every stray idea,” he says.

“I even sent him things I had written ten years ago. He listened to them all and sent us a list of what he wanted to work on.” The band auditioned for 12 songs, recorded 11, and eventually chose eight for their own. Never. The result captures a focused but expanded version of Monolord‘s sound.

The first appearance of the record arrives with the single “You Bastard”, accompanied by a video of a studio session shot by James Rexroad. The song suggests a stylistic change for the band, by the hunter note: “This isn’t really what people would call a doom album. It feels like a mix of that and something new.”

However Monolord has always been associated with slow, heavy crimes of destruction, Never it seems to expand their palette into an energetic and groove-driven realm, while retaining the heaviness and atmosphere that defined their earlier work.

When we think about the path of the group since its formation in 2013, the drummer Esben Willems He adds: “It’s been a rough journey and still is. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved along the way, and in many ways, this album feels like the foundation of everything we’ve done so far. My focus is the same as it always has been, to be the best that the three of us can be.”

With pre-orders now available across vinyl, CD, cassette and digital formats, Never sets the stage for what could be one of the Monolord‘the most extensive to date. Pre-orders are available here.
